Hinckley & Rugby Building Society backs the Mortgage Charter
We understand that things can sometimes be challenging, and we’re committed to supporting our members who are facing difficulties in paying their mortgage.
We already provide a range of support measures for mortgage borrowers who may be concerned about or are struggling with their mortgage payments. This is why we have signed up to the Government’s new Mortgage Charter.
If you or your clients would like to find out more about the Mortgage Charter options, or they are concerned that they may not be able to pay their next payment, they can find this information on our website.
Frequently asked questions
Can I apply for support on my client’s behalf?
We ask that your client contacts us so we can discuss their personal circumstances and provide the necessary information before they are able to proceed.
Who can apply for the Term Extension or six-month switch to interest only?
Members who have a residential mortgage and are up to date on mortgage payments.
Does the Charter apply to Buy to Let mortgages?
No, the Mortgage Charter only covers residential mortgages and does not extend to Buy to Let mortgages. However, we are committed to supporting all our members who may be facing financial difficulties and so, we can discuss the options available to a landlord.
Can my client lock in a new deal before their current mortgage deal ends?
If they are coming to the end of a mortgage deal, they can lock in a new product up to three months in advance. Where they choose to switch to another product, the product switch can take place when their existing product ends, or if they prefer, they can choose to switch straight away.
We will provide them with timely information to help them plan ahead as their current mortgage deal is coming to an end.
